Fully hosted round trip cruise including all taxes, port charges and fees. All meals on board the ship, plus transportation for property inspections, 5 lunches or receptions onshore and any perks at time of booking.
What is not included in the cost?
All airfares, airport/hotel transfers; hotel nights pre and post cruise; any expenses not specified in the itinerary, Wifi onboard the ship, gratuities charged by the cruise line at the end of the cruise unless you selected to prepay them, beverages onboard the ship unless you selected a beverage package as one of your free perks; spa treatments and casino, specialty dining if you choose, telephone calls, laundry, personal items and sundries, individual purchases, trip cancellation/health insurance.
Do I have to be a real estate agent to go?
Absolutely not! Although this type of cruises appeals to the real estate community, it is also designed for those exploring their interest in living or investing in the Caribbean in the future. You are welcome to bring friends and perhaps open their eyes to the possibilities.
What does a typical day ashore consist of?
Property inspections and guest speakers from the island are in the morning with pick up at the port and drop off at a nearby restaurant for lunch with the crew and hosts from Caribbean Vibrations. Free time after lunch to explore the island, shop, relax at a beach or enjoy time back on board the ship. Most evenings we set sail at 5 pm with the rest of the evening free to enjoy the amenities, network and have fun with fellow guests.
Cost for a single travelling alone?
The rate is significantly more for guests wanting their own stateroom. We endeavor to match like-minded guests if they are looking to share but the final decision is left to the two people who are introduced.
Deposit and when is balance due?
A deposit of $750 per person is required upon booking. Final payment is due Dec 31, 2018. People may join the cruise after this final payment date and make full payment, however rates are not guaranteed and may be significantly more as the cruise line sells out.
What happens if I have to cancel?
We always recommend that guests consider trip cancellation/interruption insurance which may be purchased at time of deposit. This allows for unforeseen life events which may cause you to cancel this trip. After Dec 1, cancellation penalties will apply and a $100 USD per booking cancellation fee will be charged.
What type of properties will we be viewing?
We typically view properties that would be of interest to an investor/buyer looking for a second home or vacation property with the potential to earn rental income. The properties may be condominiums or free standing villas. Prices will vary by island, however you may expect to see values from as low as $200K up to several million. If we receive specific requests for certain price points we will do our best to accommodate those requests based on availability when we arrive at each destination. All of our properties will come with title. We DO NOT visit any TIME SHARE properties.
Do I receive educational credits for this real estate cruise?
These are considered educational cruises and as such may have certain tax benefits which you and your accountant can assess. You will learn about stamp duty, possible tax benefits to the buyer among other valuable pieces of information which most current real estate courses do not provide. There are no educational credits given at this time.
What if my partner doesn’t want to go on tours?
Your partner is free not to attend the tours, however we have found that most partners have thoroughly enjoyed the tours and actually get excited for their partners with these new opportunities.
Do I have to be an Engel & Völkers real estate agent to go?
No, these tours are open to any agent and their clients. Our only request is that you have a desire to learn about the possibilities available to you. Occasionally you may find that your interest is not what you thought it might be – however that has been the exception.
Do I have the opportunity to earn commissions?
If you are a certified real estate agent, then yes, you will find that the referral commissions will probably be greater than what you are receiving in your current market area, quite often averaging around 4%.
Who are the other guests?
You will find like-minded people who have a passion for the Caribbean lifestyle and are looking at exploring options to fulfilling their financial and personal goals.
Do I need a passport?
Yes, a passport is required and must be valid for a full 6 months upon your return from the cruise. Should any country refuse entry for any reason, the cruise organizers cannot be held responsible and no refund is applicable. It is the client’s responsibility to obtain, at their own expense, all documentation and vaccinations required by all relevant government authorities.
Do I require emergency health insurance?
Yes, we ask that all guests be aware of what health insurance they carry outside their own country/state/province. Some have an annual plan which can be topped out for international travel, while some people have credit cards which carry this type of policy. Know what you have, and don’t assume before you go. A discussion with Hibiscus International travel agents will help you clarify and will quote insurance if you are interested. There is a hospital on board the ship but you will have to pay for this service and be reimbursed from your travel insurance company. The average cost for being airlifted home from the Caribbean in an emergency is $50,000. Make sure you are protected.
Who organizes our flights?
Hibiscus International is a TICO licensed travel agency and the coordinators of our Caribbean Real Estate Cruise. They are a full service agency and can book your flights and any pre/post cruise hotels, as well as insurance. Hibiscus International will do all the bookings through their agency.
What if I want a suite or some other type of stateroom not offered?
Hibiscus International can accommodate you if there is availability however you will pay the prevailing rates as seen on the cruise ship’s website – ie not the group rates we have secured. Your booking will then be moved into group so you can attend all activities.
Why are there two different charges on my credit card?
We have quoted the total amount on all collateral and websites/social media. This includes – not only the group rates negotiated with Celebrity Cruises but also a complete program which includes all the activities stated above. We have to break this down into two amounts charged through Celebrity Cruises and Nexion Canada ULC the affiliated host agency for Hibiscus International. All charges and processes are under the strict travel laws of Ontario for your added protection. All bookings must be made by Hibiscus International in order to be part of this cruise.
Should we come in early to Puerto Rico?
We highly recommend you come into San Juan at least 1 day prior in case of any flight interruptions. If you miss boarding the ship on day of departure, it is your responsibility to catch up to the cruise at the next port and at your own expense. Another reason to have trip interruption/cancellation insurance. Travelling is full of the unknown which we try to minimize with good planning.
